Fay has always found quiet comfort in time spent with her older sister Aurelia, her sketches and works of art, and the three mysterious butterflies that seem to follow her wherever she goes. So it's a shock when Aurelia goes away to college without her, leaving Fay and their Aunt Carol to move down the coast. Fay has never been very close with her Aunt Carol, nor has she ever been an expert in putting herself out there, and it seems like their new town already has all the people it needs.
As Fay struggles to patch up her memories of Aurelia, trying to remember when they began to drift apart, she joins the art community in her new school. But when the art club is suddenly taken away too, she must decide how far she is willing to go to save it. And is it really worth the risk?
