Amy was a poor farm girl from Tennessee, who left her childhood home in Tennessee with her father after her mother died. The year was 1880. The journey was long and life was primitive. They settled in Apalachicola, Florida, a lively commercial town on the Gulf of Mexico bustling with fishing vessels and the timber trade. Amy discovered a new world of sights, events, and emotions as she transitioned from child to woman much faster than she had ever imagined.
